Dairy Cattle
BIOSMARTPRO® is a complementary feed for dairy cattle, developed to support rumen fermentation efficiency across the lactation cycle. It applies a microbiome-focused, functional-nutrition approach that works with the herd’s existing ration rather than replacing it.
The goal is to help the rumen convert the diet already fed on the farm into productive metabolic energy more efficiently — supporting milk performance, rumen stability and feed utilisation. BIOSMARTPRO® is used alongside balanced rationing and sound management.
Dairy performance depends not only on what enters the ration, but on how rumen biology converts it into usable energy. BIOSMARTPRO® is designed around the interactions that shape rumen fermentation.
- Microbial coordination — rumen microbial communities function through coordinated interactions rather than isolated processes.
- Fermentation efficiency — designed to support productive rumen fermentation dynamics.
- Productive utilisation — connects fermentation biology with the productive utilisation of the existing ration for milk.
The approach is most relevant around transition and early lactation, when metabolic demand is highest and rumen stability matters most.
BIOSMARTPRO® is included in the daily ration as a complementary feed. In practice:
- Introduce gradually and feed consistently every day.
- Use alongside a balanced ration, clean water and sound management.
- Maintain through transition and peak lactation, when demand is highest.
Inclusion is set per herd according to the ration and production stage. For a farm-specific recommendation, contact our technical team, or explore the interactive rumen and fermentation tools.
Controlled studies anchor the rationale. Controlled dairy studies underpin the biological rationale for BIOSMARTPRO® in dairy cattle. We report controlled data separately from field observations.
Field observations across commercial farms in several countries describe farm-reported changes in production, rumination and other monitored herd indicators. These vary by farm and are examples of field experience rather than controlled results — for instance, farm-reported herd averages moving from roughly 11,000 to 13,400 kg/cow/year on one unit, and from about 31.5 to 35.3 kg/cow/day on another.
Outcomes depend on ration, genetics, management and environment. Our team can help design a structured on-farm evaluation for your herd.
